Summer Motivation

Updated: Apr 19, 2023

I realize that I'm not as productive during the summer. I work part-time and on my days off, I usually take time to write.

During the school year, I need to get up around 5:15 am to get the boys ready for jazz band. During the summer, no one is getting up at 5:15 am, so my day starts later and then is often filled with boy things, not my things.

Should I just give up and plan to get more things done once school starts in September? Or should I find summer motivation?

I don't have to look far for motivation. My book is complete, but I'm working on my final edit and re-write while researching the next step toward publication.

So, I have things to do, but these things are not a 15 minute job, they can take hours.

My friend mentioned her goal right now is baby steps. She's set small goals to accomplish daily. Okay, maybe weekly...

Honestly, I want to enjoy my summer and my boys while I still can since two are going away to college within the next few weeks.

So, realistically, I will probably keep doing what I've already been doing so far this summer. I'll work on things if I have time to keep moving forward, but I'll probably be waiting until fall to get back into the full swing of writing, editing and researching.

I guess rain is more motivating than the sun.

Until next time...
